- Eat plenty of organic vegetables, fruit and food containing Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)
- Cut down alcohol intake as it dehydrates
- Drink plenty of good water
- Take time out to relax. Stress, fatigue and conflict have been linked to Eczema. Get plenty of rest and sleep. Try yoga and meditation
- Exercise regularly to stimulate the lymph glands
- Get a little sunlight regularly without burning. Sunlight is needed for our skin to formulate Vitamin D
- Test sunscreen lotions before applying generally
- After swimming in a chlorinated pool, shower immediately, pat the skin dry and apply suitable emollients
- Try to keep skin cool as perspiration may irritate skin
- Do not scratch irritated skin as this can lead to infection
- Keep fingernails short or put infants in cotton mitts
- Apply a good, natural emollient regularly to reduce trans-epidermal water loss
- Use natural soaps and skincare products without SLS and petrochemical derivatives
- Avoid hot baths and bubble bath
- Use allergy-proof bedding if sensitive to dust mite
- Wear non-allergic gloves for household cleaning
- Wash all new clothes before wearing
- Use suitable washing powders and detergents
- Avoid wool, tight clothing and elastic. Try cotton instead
