Supersalve products are made with natural and organic Honey, herbal extracts and essential oils. Some of these life-enhancing gifts from nature have been revered for their restorative properties and documented for thousands of years. Others are ancient tribal remedies and the benefits have only recently been discovered by the western world. Formal scientific studies are being carried out on an ongoing basis around the world on many of these natural treasures with astounding results.

Referred to in early writings as a “gift of God” and the “nectar of life”, many cultures including the ancient Egyptians and Greeks as well as the Chinese, Indians, Romans and Arabs used Apitherapy (treatment with natural honey) on various skin ailments. Honey contains vital vitamins and minerals and has an extremely high potassium content, which makes it almost impossible for bacteria to survive. |

Calendula extract is obtained from Marigolds, a common garden plant with bright orange-yellow flowers. Calendula is a remedy long used throughout Europe for soothing local skin problems and regenerating damaged and overheated tissue. It is excellent for irritated and delicate skin. |

A deep-acting analgesic, Camphor also has selective antimicrobial and antifungal activity and is suitable for skin problems, itchiness and skin irritations. |

Clove is probably best known for its anaesthetic properties and for relieving toothaches but it also has antibacterial, antiviral, analgesic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. |

Eucalyptus Smithii is softer, gentler quality than other species of Eucalyptus, and is often preferred for use with children, older people and anyone with a particularly sensitive nature. Eucalyptus has potent, penetrating antibacterial and antifungal and antimicrobial properties against a wide range of micro-organisms. It is also an effective analgesic. |

Rosemary improves poor circulation and stimulates the nervous system, making it ideally suited for fatigued and aching muscles and joints as well as sluggish, underactive skin and is used on dry and mature skin types. It is also known for its antiseptic and antioxidant properties. |

St John’s Wort has been used since ancient times for antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. (May cause photosensitivity - be cautious in the sun). |

Lavender is the oil most associated with burns and healing of the skin. It stimulates circulation and has strong antiseptic, antibiotic and analgesic properties. It is excellent for delicate skin. |

Tea Tree has well documented antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties with outstanding germ killing effect and high penetration power. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, expectorant and wound healing properties. Very helpful for skin ailments. |

Native to Africa, it has been used for thousands of years as a moisturiser and for its soothing, antiseptic and natural UV protection properties. It is used most often on sun-damaged skin, for prevention or lessening stretch marks and to heal or lighten scars and eczema. Shea Butter also helps cell regeneration and capillary circulation making it suitable for use on small wounds, skin cracks and crevices and against skin aging. It has restructuring effects on the epidermis and its elastisising characteristic makes it a good active ingredient against stretch marks. It can be used on very sensitive skin areas. |

A powerful antioxidant and rich in Linoleic Acid, Grapeseed Oil has regenerative and restructuring virtues and has great skin moisturising properties. It is ideal for mature, damaged and stressed skin, notably for use around the eyes and neck. |

Evening Primrose Oil is rich in Linoleic Acid (LA) and Gamma Linoleic Acid (GLA). It has anti-inflammatory properties as well as giving skin a healthy appearance in general. This oil is nourishing to the skin and very beneficial for scaly and mature skin. |

Sweet Almond Oil contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and E, Oleic and Linoleic essential fatty acids and is rich in proteins. It is a good massage medium for tired, stiff, aching and fatigued muscles and joints. It also helps balance the skin’s moisture levels. *Do Not Use if allergic to nuts. This ingredient is only used in our Massage-Balm for deep-tissue massage which is only available to professional therapists. |

Squalane, an all-vegetable product, extracted from Olive Oil, is one of the most powerful moisturizers and it also provides a barrier preventing transdermal water loss. It is an ideal ingredient in any blend for dry, chapped or scaly skin. |

Rich in the Oleic and Linoleic essential fatty Acids, this oil is recommended for mature, dry, sensitive and inflamed skin. Its moisturising and revitalising properties benefit prematurely aged skin and skin that is dry, itchy or irritated. |

Used for its anti-microbial, anti-irritant and moisturising properties, Aloe is commonly used to soothe and cool.
